About Auburn University

▪Auburn University was founded in 1856, under the name of the East Alabama Male College. The name of the university was changed several times during the years, until 1960, when the name that we know today was settled. The university contains several schools and colleges, including: College of Architecture, College of Business, School of Nursing, and College of Veterinary Medicine.


▪There are about 150 majors from which students can choose, as well as nearly 300 organizations and clubs on campus. Since it was opened, the university gave more than 250 000 academic degrees. Today, there are over 24,000 youngsters attending Auburn University and over 1000 faculty members. It was listed among the top 50 public universities for 15 years in a row. Auburn University contains thirteen colleges and schools, with programs covering areas such as veterinary science, pharmacy, architecture and engineering. Six famous astronauts graduated here, including T.K. Mattingly of Apollo 13 and a former director of the Kennedy Space Center.
